Climate
We are on the Tuscan Coast. The climate is ideal, with a Mediterranean pattern of mild winters and hot, dry summers, but tempered by the breezes from the Tyrrhenian Sea. The scarce rainfall is concentrated in winter and spring.
Guado al Melo is in the hilly area of Bolgheri, in a little valley with direction East-West. Our location brings us temperatures usually cooler than the rest of the area, and more significantly, broad day-night temperature differentials. Our vineyards are also protected from the frigid tramontana and grecale winds, which in early spring can bring frosts to the coast. In general, this special climate allows our vines to achieve that judicious balance between elegance and forcefulness, between aromatic crispness and richness.
