The vineyard: a garden in nature
The vineyard, set in the midst of a magnificent countryside of olive trees and woods,
is managed in accord with an agricultural philosophy that is deeply respectful of human health and of the environment.
All of the vineyard practices are focused on encouraging the vine to achieve its full natural equilibrium, which will enable it to produce sound, healthy grapes that exhibit a fine balance of their components.
The vineyards are planted to a very high density, over 8,000 vines per hectare, and for a low yield, on average 1 kg per vine. But they are kept in optimal balance, so that they will yield wines that are elegant, not overly alcoholic or concentrated. They are trained to spurred cordon.
The varieties that we grow are those of the ancient Bolgheri tradition, such as the Sangiovese and the Vermentino, but of the modern tradition as well, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot. Total vineyard area is currently about 27 hectares.
