Antillo Bolgheri DOC Red
Sangiovese had always played a role in local viticulture, together with other lesser Tuscan varieties.
Thus the tradition was there, ripe for a reinterpretation that would highlight the distinctive pleasure this noble variety could achieve even when enjoyed young.
Careful cluster selection, low yields, carefully-calibrated fermentation, and a judicious use of oak combine to produce a rich wine, harmonious but bright and lively, with a typical fruit nose.
Name: Antillo is a name that sprang from the imagination of our son Giovanni. Only later did we discover that it really does have a meaning, besides being the name of a town in Sicily: it derives from the Greek antillos, meaning “sunny place.” Perhaps it is just a coincidence, but the term is a perfect description of the vineyard that yields this wine.
